Three senior executives at Mindcrest, Inc., Ganesh Natarajan, Patrick Gleason and Michael Duffy, all recently served as faculty members at leading legal industry events. Natarajan spoke at Argyle Executive Forum's 2009 CLO Leadership Forum and Gleason and Duffy presented at IQPC's eDiscovery for Financial Services conference. Both took place in New York.

At eDiscovery for Financial Services on February 26, Patrick Gleason, Regional Sales Director at Mindcrest, led a panel on "Cost Containment & Ethics in Outsourcing" with panelists Anupam Razdan, Electronic Discovery Counsel at Accenture, Akiba Stern, Partner, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, LLP, Deborah Baron, Vice President, Legal and Compliance, Autonomy Inc., and Michael Duffy, Vice President of Legal Services at Mindcrest.

The panel discussion centered on return-on-investment from outsourcing, project planning as well as tips for avoiding ethical and liability risks associated with outsourcing, either onshore or offshore. "There are a number of ethical issues related to offshoring of legal services," said Duffy. "It is important to make sure your provider is not engaging in the unlicensed practice of law, is appropriately implementing last year's ABA Opinion on Outsourcing and is properly securing any and all data it may be handling."

On March 11, Mindcrest's President & CEO Ganesh Natarajan moderated a panel at the 2009 CLO Leadership Forum, entitled "The Nuts and Bolts of Legal Process Outsourcing." Panelists included Richard M. Borden, Vice President & Assistant General Counsel at The Hartford and Lindley Brenza, Partner at the law firm of Bartlit Beck.

"Outsourcing provides value to clients by reducing costs and increasing efficiency, but also to law firms by allowing them to expand their competitive advantage and differentiate themselves from other firms by focusing on more strategic work while charging clients less," said Natarajan. "In this session we tried to enable each attendee to build his or her own value proposition." The session also covered the outlook for outsourcing, important process elements and keys to success while providing an example of a pilot process.

"We are committed, through forums such as these, to helping attorneys understand the value of legal process outsourcing." added Natarajan.
